Newark Airport towing: the questions travelers ask, answered like the dispatcher would
Find your question and call. The dispatcher has heard every one of these from someone standing in an airport lot.
What travelers ask before calling for a tow at Newark Airport
We meet you in the lots, garages, rental returns and hotels, not on a terminal curb; most dead cars need a jump; the price comes first; and rentals and EVs ride on a flatbed.
My car won't start after a week parked at Newark Airport. Do I need a tow?
Probably not. A battery that sat a week in the cold or heat usually just needs a jump, which is one flat price, and you drive out of the lot. If it will not hold a charge, the dispatcher quotes the tow on the spot and you do not pay for a second visit.
Can you pick up my car from the curb at Terminal A, B or C?
No, and nobody honest will promise that. The terminal curbs are Port Authority property and its police keep them moving. If your car dies at the curb, the officers move it; call us and we meet it where they put it, or in the nearest lot.
What if I break down on one of the roads inside the airport?
Hazards on and stay with the car. The airport roadways belong to the Port Authority, so its police handle the lane and move the car off it. Once it is in a safe spot, we pick it up there and take it wherever you want.
How long does a tow truck take to reach the EWR parking lots?
Our yard in Linden is about twelve minutes from the lots by Routes 1 & 9, and trucks working Newark or the port are sometimes closer. The dispatcher gives you a window based on the nearest truck, not a promise pulled from the air.
How much is a tow from Newark Airport?
A flat $149 booking fee for dispatch and hook-up, or $129 if you book online, plus mileage to where the car is going. The dispatcher quotes the full number before the truck leaves. There is no airport surcharge.
Which lot information should I have ready when I call?
The lot or garage name, the level if it is a garage, the row sign or the nearest shuttle stop, and which terminal you flew through. If you are not at the car yet, tell us how long until you get there.
Can you get into the airport parking garages with a flatbed?
Not always. Garages have height limits, so the driver may bring a jump pack or a wheel-lift up to the car while the flatbed waits outside. If the car needs the flatbed, we move it down to a level or exit where it can load.
My rental car broke down on the way back to the return. What do I do?
Call the rental company first, since the car is theirs and they may send their own contractor. If they tell you to arrange it, or their wait is hours, we tow it to the return area or the branch they name and give you an itemized receipt for your claim.
Do you tow electric cars and Teslas from the airport?
Yes, on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, which is what EV makers ask for. Lots of EWR rentals are electric now, so this is a regular job for us.
I locked my keys in the trunk with my luggage. Can you open it in the lot?
Yes. Car lockouts are one flat price, and the driver uses damage-free entry tools. Many cars open the trunk once the cabin is unlocked, and if yours does not, the driver works through it with you.
My battery died in the cell phone lot while I waited for a flight. Can you help?
Yes, and it is one of the most common airport calls. Headlights, heat and a phone charger on a long wait drain an older battery. A jump is one flat price and gets you back to the arrivals level fast.
Do you come to the hotels near Newark Airport?
Yes. The hotel row on Routes 1 & 9, Frontage Road and Haynes Avenue, and the hotels along North Avenue and Spring Street in Elizabeth, are on our trucks' direct route from Linden.
I parked at an off-airport park-and-fly lot and my car is dead. Will the lot jump it?
Most park-and-fly lots in Newark and Elizabeth do not jump or tow customers' cars. Ask the attendant where the truck can pull in, then call us with the lot's name and your row.
Can you tow my car home if I live far from Newark?
Yes. Travelers from Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and South Jersey fly out of EWR, and sometimes the car cannot make the drive home. A long-distance tow is one quoted price, tolls included, on one flatbed.
I work at the airport. Do you come to the employee lots?
Yes. Airport and airline staff park in employee lots away from the terminals and often need a jump after a double shift. Tell the dispatcher the lot, and if there is a gate, where the truck should wait.
What about the Turnpike near the airport, at Exit 13A or 14?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
Do you handle trucks at Port Newark and the marine terminal?
Yes. Medium and heavy-duty trucks run from the same Linden yard for tractors, box trucks, vans and buses on Doremus Avenue, Corbin Street and the port's truck lots. Fleets can set up net terms and one monthly invoice.
Can I leave the car and catch my flight while you tow it?
Yes. The dispatcher arranges where to leave the keys, and the driver photographs the car at pickup and at delivery and sends you the photos. You can pay by card on the phone.
Is there an extra charge because it is the airport, or because it is late?
No. The booking fee and mileage rate are the same in an airport lot as on a Linden side street, at 2 p.m. or 2 a.m. Lot parking fees are charged by the lot, not by us.
What payment do you accept at the airport?
Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash, paid at the car. You do not need a membership, and fleet accounts can be billed on net terms.
Will I get a receipt for my insurance, rental company or credit card claim?
Yes. Every job ends with an itemized receipt that lists the booking fee, the mileage and any extra work. It goes by email or on paper, in the format claim desks ask for.
Can my family and our bags ride in the tow truck?
Usually one or two passengers can ride in the cab, with no charge for them. Tell the dispatcher how many people and bags there are so the right truck comes, or so you can plan a rideshare for the rest.
